If you're a fashion student or aspiring fashion designer, chances are you've seen or heard of fashion croquis before. But what are they exactly, and how can you use them in your design process? Keep reading to find out!

What is a Croquis?

A croqui (pronounced "croaky") is a quick sketch of a figure used by designers to help them visualize their designs on a real body. Traditionally, croquis were drawn by hand, but nowadays you can find plenty of printable croquis online (like these!) and in a variety of fashion poses too.

The best part about using printable croquis for fashion illustrations is that you can print them out over and over again, so you always have a fresh sketch to work with. Plus, they're free!

Also you can print the on your choice of paper and whatever size.

How to Use Croquis in Your Design Process

A croquis can be used to draw all kinds of fashion illustrations in all kinds of poses.

There are endless ways to use croquis to create illustrations in your design process, but here are a few of our favorites:

1. Sketching initial design ideas: Croquis are great for when you first have an inspiration for a n idea but aren't quite sure how it will look on a real person. Sketching out a few different options on a croqui can help you narrow down your favorite and start refining the details.

2. Flats/technical drawings: Once you've decided on your final design, using a croqui can help you create accurate flats (technical drawings that show all the details of the garment) or even help you plan out your construction process.

3. Presentations/mood boards: Croquis are also useful for when you're putting together presentations or mood boards for your designs. They add a touch of professionalism and can really bring your vision to life for your client or professor.

Croquis provide the perfect opportunity to draw and practice drawing fashion garments over and over again until you get the hang of it.

And even if you never master the ability to draw perfectly proportioned fashion figure, at least over time you'll have some fun sketches to show for it.

Now create your amazing collection:

Croquis are an essential tool for any fashion student or fashion designer. By understanding what they are and how to use them properly, you'll be well on your way to creating beautiful garments designs that fit your fashion aesthetic.
