Coloring

If you're a fan of adult coloring books, then you know that one of the most frustrating things is when your coloring medium bleeds through the pages, ruining the next illustration. Not only is it annoying, but it can also be costly if you're using expensive coloring supplies. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to prevent your pages from bleeding through.

Test Your Coloring Supplies First

Before you start coloring in your book, it's always a good idea to test your supplies on a scrap piece of paper first. This way, you can see how much pigment is being released and how well it adheres to the paper. If you notice that the color is bleeding through after just a few strokes, then it's probably not going to be worth trying to use that particular supply in your book. Crayola crayons and Prismacolor pencils are generally good options that won't bleed through too much.

Use Multiple Layers of Paper

If you really want to be safe, you can use multiple layers of paper to prevent the color from Bleeding through. This method is a bit more time-consuming, but it will definitely keep your pages nice and clean. To do this, simply trace your design onto two pieces of tracing paper and tape them together with clear tape. Then, color between the two sheets of tracing paper as usual. When you're finished, peel off the top layer of tracing paper, and voila! No bleed-through!

Use Specialist Materials

if you're using watercolors, make sure you apply a layer of fixative before beginning to color. This will seal the watercolor paint and prevent it from bleeding through. Find enhancements for the materials you have, many artists will have struggles before you and will have passed on knowledge and found solutions you can now buy.
