Coloring

If you're like most grown up just trying coloring for the first time in a while, you probably haven't picked up a coloring book in years. Coloring may seem like a childish activity, but it can actually be super therapeutic. When you take the time to focus on coloring, it can help you relax and de-stress.

On the flip side some people find coloring books to be stressful and difficult because they feel like they have to match the colors perfectly. Others find it difficult to stay within the lines.

Here are four different coloring techniques that can help you achieve your goal of a relaxing coloring book experience.

1. Outline first, color second.
2. Go for symmetry.
3. Color in sections.
4. Take your time.

1. Outline first, color second. This technique is especially helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed by the task at hand. By outlining your design first, it helps to give you a roadmap for where you want to go with your coloring. Then, you can fill in the colors however you'd like, without having to worry about making mistakes or going off the path.

2. Go for symmetry. Coloring can be a great way to practice meditation and mindfulness. When you focus on creating perfect symmetry in your design, it helps to quiet your mind and focus on the present moment.

3.. Color in sections. This technique is helpful if you want to maintain a sense of control while you're coloring. By breaking up the design into sections, it's easier to focus on one small area at a time and not feel overwhelmed by the entire project. Plus, it's satisfying to see each section gradually come to life as you fill it in with color.

4.. Take your time.. One of the best things about coloring is that there's no rush—you can take as much time as you need to finish the design without any pressure. So savor each stroke of the pen or pencil and enjoy the process of watching your creation come to life.

So remember coloring may seem like a simple activity, but it can actually be quite therapeutic and involves some skill! The next time you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed, consider pulling out a coloring book and giving it a try.
